My Role in the Project: Co-founder, Director, Performer
Playback Theatre is a form of improvisation where audience members share personal stories, and actors play them back on stage in real time.
We create performances that bring in many different voices and views. Our aim is to give space for open dialogue and to treat every story with care, without judgment. This way, we try to build an atmosphere of empathy and support.
We often work with socially important topics and with vulnerable groups. Our projects involve migrants, LGBTQ+ communities, peace-building groups, ecological initiatives and the post-Soviet diaspora in Berlin. With them we try to keep dialogue and connections alive in the context of war and political conflict.
Feminist issues are another very important topic for us: one of our projects brings women together to perform for women and mixed audiences, raising questions about gender roles, agency and the absence of women’s voices in decision-making.
We're currently cooperate with more than 15 artists on a regular basis — performers, musicians and visual artists. We also support the Playback community by organizing workshops, exchange groups and shared practice sessions.
