Maria Buianova
I am a performer and theater director based in Berlin.
I work at the intersection of experimental physical theatre, visual theater, contemporary circus and storytelling practices.
I believe that theatre begins where words are not enough. For me, it is a way to explore reality and to touch what usually remains painful, uncomfortable or hidden. And of course, theatre is always about the “here and now”: about the encounter where people gather in one space, share breath and emotion, and where dialogue comes to life.

Through my performances, I want to say to people:
Let’s talk about this. We can hold it.
My artistic approach
At the core of my work lies a physical-visual language.
In every project—whether in a theatre, gallery, or public space—I return to embodied metaphors and visual imagery as a way to create atmosphere and engage audiences on a sensory level. I explore social issues and contemporary questions, not only as statements about reality but also as opportunities to open dialogue and make space for diverse voices and emotions
